Home Grown and Family Owned
Alaska Flour Company is a family owned and operated flour mill located in Delta Junction, Alaska. We are committed to increasing our food independence in Alaska. In fact, that is why we decided to start a flour mill.
Alaska is at the end of a very long transportation chain. Over 95% of our food is shipped from the lower 48 and disruptions to our transportation occur on a regular basis. After observing the difficulty of getting food to the victims of Hurricane Katrina a few years ago, we chose to make locally grown food more available to Alaskans.
It takes time to grow an industry and if it is to be available when we need it, we must support its growth. As Alaskans, we hope you will support our efforts to provide you with locally grown food We firmly believe that food security cannot be achieved without agriculture.
We mill Sunshine hulless barley and Ingall wheat grown on our own farm. Eventually, we hope to purchase grains from other farmers, providing them with an additional market. Four generations of Wrigleys work on the farm now. We use no-till farming to improve the soil structure and save fuel. Our flour mill uses USDA inspected grains and is DEC inspected. We are not organic - that is not practical in our area - however, we strive to be friendly to our environment.
Our flour mill specializes in quality, artisan, stoneground flour. It is available in 25 and 40 pound paper bags and 5 and 10 pound poly resealable bags. We also sell a hot breakfast cereal we call Cream of Barley. Flour can be ordered on line by clicking our online store link. It will also be available at the following locations. Please facebook us at Alaska Flour Company to get up to the minute information and new locations.
